How to involve your employees from the very beginning?

Getting new employees involved in a project from the moment they join is a difficult and costly process. However, working on this can be crucial when it comes to managing a team and can save the company a lot of costs. However, much of this motivation must come from the employee. According to a Gallup study, the most disengaged employees cost companies an estimated $500 billion yearly.

Besides eliminating loss, keeping employees motivated and engaged with the company culture can make a big difference in the bottom line at the end of the year. “Organisations with high levels of engagement produce benefits beyond employee happiness: share value has higher earnings per share, and companies experience 22% higher profitability, 21% higher productivity, 10% higher customer engagement, 25-65% lower turnover and 37% lower absenteeism,”, explains the same study.

Thus, the first impressions of new employees in the company are crucial in their motivation and development during the following stages. In this sense, giving them the freedom to express themselves and build themselves as workers in a new environment is one of the fundamental factors for them to feel comfortable and perform better from the first minute.

Techniques for involving new employees in a project

Develop a personal brand. Although it sounds strange, experts start by recommending helping new employees to develop their own personal brands. In this sense, workers who manage to do so tend to find it easier to integrate their own identity into a company, achieving better results and more interesting loyalty and motivation.

In addition, employees who have spent time developing their own personal brand tend to start their relationships with a group more strongly and positively. This is key for new employees, as they will meet many people in a short period, for which they need confidence and self-assurance.

Create your digital identity. In the same third, helping new employees develop their digital identity can be a good idea for helping them integrate into the team. “People will Google their new colleagues to learn about them, probably before they even meet them,” says personal branding expert William Arruda in an article.

Make them ambassadors for the company. Once they have made progress in consolidating their personal brand, it is time to transform that motivation for the company’s benefit. In this sense, Arruda proposes that employees with a greater sense of attachment to the brand support the company’s communication objectives by sharing the most relevant content. In this way, they help enhance the brand’s credibility while employees deepen their relationship with the company.
